I instantly felt intrigued

by the exotic melodies, alien rhythms and oriental scales.

Christian Ronig

In December 2017, Christian released his debut album ‟Greece is mine“ (violins productions, Paros). It consists of ten classic songs, ranging from Rembetiko to other genres of Greek music, rearranged and translated into English and German. The album also features some of the finest musicians in Greece, amongst others Andreas Polyzogopoulos (trumpet), Vangelis Karipis (percussion), Giorgos Tsiatsoulis (accordion) or Lefteris Chavoutsas (guitars).

The album stirred a lot of attention in the Greek media and lead to an extensive airplay on the radio. Christian’s pre-released demo of ‟Oh Lord“ was included in the course on ‟aesthetics in traditional music“ at the Department of traditional music in Arta, Greece.

Since then Christian has given many concerts in Greece and collaborated with various Greek artists, the most notable being at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in July 2019.

Here, Christian shared the stage with acclaimed artists such as Giota Negka, Dimitris Mystakidis, Eleni Vitali, Giorgos Dalaras etc. He appeared on Dimitris Mystakidis album ‟Edo & Eki“ (2019), singing the duet ‟Apo gynaikes dakrya“. The joint tour (2019/2020) was canceled due to the outbreak of the pandemic.

Teaming up with his long-time bass player Paraskevas Kitsos, Christian is currently producing two new albums. The first is a continuation of ‟Greece is mine“, new arrangements of classic Greek songs; the second album consists only of original songs, in which Christian explores how to combine Eastern musical elements with Western songwriting.
